In honor of Motorsport 101 reaching 100 episodes, we will be hosting another fantasy motorsport competition, the Centennial Cup. This competition will differ wildly from our original competition, the International Fantasy Draft. The winner will be determined by the future performances of the drivers they selected.
Fantasy Team Composition
Each fantasy team will consist of:
- 1 driver from the "Big Three" constructors (F1a) in Formula One
- 2 drivers from outside of the "Big Three" constructors (F1b) in Formula One
- 3 drivers from the IndyCar Series
- 3 drivers from the FIA Formula Two Championship
- 3 drivers from the FIA Formula Three European Championship
Draft Auction
The team selection process will mainly via a draft auction. In a predetermined order, fantasy team principals will select a driver to put on the auction block and place a starting bid on the selected driver. Competing bids will then be allowed to be placed, and the highest bidder will receive the driver. Each team principal will have a fixed budget of $4,500 to buy 9 drivers.
The selection order will reverse at the end of each round. Formula One and IndyCar drivers will not be allowed to be placed on the auction block until the fourth round of selections. After the ninth round, driver selections will be uncontested under traditional serpentine draft rules in the interest of time.
Point Scoring System
The winning team will be the one will the highest cumulative point total. Each driver on a team will score points based on the finishing position in each race. This is based on a unique points table*, not the points scored in their respective championship.
1st: 100 pts 6th: 56 pts 11th: 38 pts 16th: 28 pts 21st: 18 pts
2nd: 80 pts 7th: 52 pts 12th: 36 pts 17th: 26 pts 22nd: 16 pts

5th: 60 pts 10th: 40 pts 15th: 30 pts 20th: 20 pts 25th: 10 pts
*- This points table will also be used for Aces in Formula Two sprint races.
Each team will select two first-team drivers or "Aces." "Aces" will score double points for their teams. Teams may switch drivers in their Ace positions between races. Though, commitment to a Formula Two driver in a sprint race requires a team principal to commit to a Formula Two driver in the other sprint race.
