GEOGEBRA AND GOOGLE FORMS(adapted from davepugh.com)
The dynamic worksheet is one of the coolest things you can do with GeoGebra. Adding a Google Form to the
side is a great way to collect student responses right from the computer, which doesn’t force them to go back
and forth between writing and using the computer.
1. First make whatever applet you are going to use in the assignment.
2. Then, make a Google Form with the questions of the worksheet you want to create. If you have never
done this before, start in Google Docs (docs.google.com). Click on the red “create” button and choose
“Form” from the list. This is a pretty easy process with lots of great instructions on Google. You can
change the look of the form using the Templates, but the simpler the better in this case.
3. Now we need to make the webpage that will become the combination of the GeoGebra applet and the
Google Form.
a. Download GGB Template from the website davepugh.org (click on “GeoGebra” and then go
down to GGB Template – right click on the link and click “save as”)
b. Open GGB Template with a TEXT ONLY editor (usually notepad) or an .html editor like
Dreamweaver (if you have one).
4. The form basically has two spots where you need to copy and paste your code (one for the form and
one for the GeoGebra Applet).
a. Getting the code for the GeoGebra Applet
i. In your GeoGebra file, go to File->Export->Dynamic Worksheet as Webpage (html).
ii. Select “Export as Webpage.”
iii. Select “Advanced” tab.
iv. Check the boxes for the options you want your applet to have.
v. When you are ready to copy and paste it into your new html document, choose
“Clipboard: html” which will Copy the html code onto your clipboard.
b. Inserting the GeoGebra code
i. Find the section in the html mashup document that says “Copy the html clipboard from
GeoGebra export here”
c. Getting the code for the Google Form
i. In your Google form, Select “Form”->”Embed form in webpage”
ii. Cope that code
d. Insert Google Form
i. Find the section that says “Copy the Google form export code here”
ii. Paste the code into the template document
iii. Delete “width=xxx”
5. Save your new document somewhere with “save as.” Open it up in a browser to check it out. For those
who are perfectionists, you can play with the height and width of the frames to make the entire
application fit on a screen without scrolling. This will vary, however, depending on the monitor and
resolution.
