[email protected] room 112B duty hours: Thursday 10:00 – 11:30
Course: − the coursebook for this academic year is: Roderick, M. – C. Nuttall with Nick Kenny. 2013. Proficiency Expert. Harlow: Pearson Education Limited (this is the latest edition) − units to be covered with me during the whole year: 2, 5, 7, 9 Requirements: − attendance: •
you are entitled to 3 absences per term (either excused or unexcused)
•
if you happen to be absent for the fourth time, you will not get any credit for the classes (otherwise 10%)
•
fifth absence means that you cannot take the exam in June and your grade is "unsatisfactory" (ndst)
− tests: •
there will be two different types of tests during the course: vocabulary quizzes and major tests
•
vocabulary quizzes will be relatively short (5 mins. at most) and always administered at the beginning of your classes; you will be asked to take them every second/third class (but sometimes it may happen that you will have two vocabulary tests in a row); you cannot retake vocabulary quizzes, instead you collect points and you need an arithmetic mean of 60% to complete the course successfully; if you are absent on a day of the quiz, you get 0%
•
you will be given a major test after each unit; as the name suggests they will be longer and more comprehensive than vocabulary quizzes and they will last approx. 35-40 mins.; you are entitled to one retake test which must be taken till the end of March (for tests 1 and 2) or at the end of the second term (for tests 3 and 4)
