Programme description: Origin of elements and occurrence in the universe ; periodic law – periodic trends in physical and chemical properties of elements, role of valence electrons, valence shell (shielding of nuclear charge), effect of electron-pair, p and d orbitals, different types of bonds (Π - bond, σ- bond). Structure and reactivity of inorganic compounds; inorganic polymers, coordination compounds. Redox reactions. Selected topics of solid-state chemistry – properties of the transition metal oxides; synthesis methods in aqueous solutions, high-temperature and others processes.
Training effect – skills and competence: General practical acquaintance of important topics and methods using in inorganic chemistry. Consciousness – knowledge on the relationship between the features of inorganic compounds, reactivity and their types of bonds and microstructure. The task of the course is to show the advantage of the individual student work in chemical laboratory realizing the syntheses and analyses of inorganic compounds.
