Programme description: Surfaces and interfaces. The structure of surfaces. Chemical, electrical, mechanical and optical properties of surfaces. Surface phenomena. Processes at solid surfaces. The extent of adsorption, adsorption isotherms. Surface - science approach to catalytic chemistry. Catalytic action – kinetic expressions, catalyst preparation, deactivation and regeneration. Homo- and heterogeneous catalysis, autocatalysis. Industrial catalytic processes.
Training effect – skills and competence: Understanding of surface phenomena and industrial catalytic processes.
The lecturer informs about requirements, weight of assessment components, recommended literature, schedule of tests or other organizational issue at the first meeting.
