Programme description: Characterization of the petroleum industry in Poland and in the world. Refinery technological schemes. Crude oil pretreatment. Petroleum processing containing physical and chemical separation processes: rectification, extractive and azeotropic distillation, extraction, low temperature dewaxing processes, clathrates forming, adsorption and chemical refining. Destructive oil processing including thermal destructive processes, catalytic cracking, catalytic reforming and gasoline cuts isomerisation. Hydrogen processes (hydrorefining, hydrodesulphurisation, hydrodemetallisation, hydrodearomatisation, hydrocracking, hydrogenation).Fuel components syntheses: polymerisation, alkylation, etherification. Oil products composition and blending. Hydrocarbon gases sources. Gases pretreatment and H2S utilisation. Hydrocarbon gases separation. Hydrogen management in a refinery. Methods for hydrogen production.
Training effect – skills and competence: Gaining knowledge about processes used in complex processing of crude oil and hydrocarbon gases to obtain products meeting the desired quality requirements.
The lecturer informs about requirements, weight of assessment components, recommended literature, schedule of tests or other organizational issue at the first meeting.
