Preparation to the lessons: some texts reading (subtitles lists mainly) and taking part in panel discussions during the lesson. Essay – around 3 pages (between 5000-5400 marks) with a short bibliography (minimum 5 books/articles). Essay topics around 3 pages – free choice Is there any relationship between joining the EU and democratic standards? How does Poland benefit from entering the EU with regard to the political system? Your remarks on the impact of culture on the political life. Comment on: Poland needs Europe. But Europe needs Poland – political aspect The enlargement of the European Union and NATO – spreading democratic standards? Politicians and the right to know. New politician’s idealistic view on public life. Political leaders on the international scene. Politicians and civil servants – war or peaceful cooperation? BIG BROTHER – does the state want to control citizens? Paradox: government is more open when it is less open, is that true? Corruption: political problem of the contemporary world?
Students must deliver printed version on the 5th lesson. Evaluation: PAST or FAILED only. Information will be given on assessment meeting. If FAILED, student must write the same topic essay again.
