Cleaning
Dust your furniture weekly using a soft dry cloth, or by vacuuming with a soft brush attachment. Soak up spills immediately with a clean absorbent cloth, paper towel or sponge. If necessary gently wipe over the whole of the adjacent area (i.e. arm, cushion) with clean water. Do not rub. Dirt, grease and perspiration attack the delicate protective coating of the leather and traces must be removed weekly with a damp, lint free cloth. Stubborn stains can be removed using a clean absorbent cloth or a moistened sponge.
Aorosol spray polishes, shoe polish, detergent, solvents, soaps (other than above) or stain removers should never be used . Specialist leather cleaning kits are available from your Retailer
General leather facts
All leather carries marks of its natural origin- grain, shading, insect bites, rubs and blemishes. Although we have removed the most unsightly of these, some have been left and highlight natural characteristics In the first few weeks of use, leather furniture acquires further natural creases and wrinkles as foam and fillings settle down. This is commonly known as ‘puddling’, especially on seats, and is perfectly normal. Protection
Do not under any circumstances expose your fur niture to direct sunlight as this causes discolouration. Heat causes drying out, cracking, and the leaching out of the preservative oils and waxes. Furniture should not be placed closer than 50cms to radiators. Maintenance Lighter colours of leather can become permanently stained by continuous contact with non-colourfast fabrics or clothing such as denim, dark coloured dressing gowns, sweatpants etc,. Never sit on your furniture when wearing damp denim or similar clothing. Dye transfer resulting from this cannot be
accepted as a claim against your furniture or leather producer. Certain articles of clothing such as denims and shoes are very abrasive and have rivets and buckles which can scratch and tear leather. Newspaper print also leaves traces of ink, which can permanently discolour your furniture. Please do not leave them lying on your furniture. Wet hair and some hair care products can stain. Pets should not be allowed on the furniture as their claws can seriously damage leather. Similarly, children should be discouraged from clambering on the furniture as toys and shoes etc can also damage the surface.
