Programme description: Viscosity of liquids. temperature and composition dependence. Methods of measurement, evaluation and prediction. Viscosity of petroleum products. Rheological kinematic and dynamic. Classification of classic rheological bodies. Rheological models of composite bodies. Maxwell liquid, Kelvin body, Burgers body. Viscoelasticity. Thixotropy. Jamming systems rheology. Rheology of slurries and emulsions. Viscometric flows and principles of rheometry, rheometer types. Influence of the non-newtonian character of fluids on the momentum, heat and mass transfer.
Training effect – skills and competence: After this course, student will be able to measure and estimate viscous and rheological parameters of petroleum systems, as well as validate their influence on the transfer processes.
The lecturer informs about requirements, weight of assessment components, recommended literature, schedule of tests or other organizational issue at the first meeting.
